Meet the team at Key West Criminal Defense

ALAN FOWLER


Alan is the Founding Attorney of Alan Fowler Law, PLLC –Key West Criminal Defense. He founded the law firm from a dining table in a small apartment on the belief that one bad mistake or wrongful accusation should not ruin the rest of your life. Since 2012, Alan and his team have defended hundreds of clients and ensured that less than 1% have gone to jail and less than 5% have received a criminal conviction. Alan started his career in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps, where he spent six years on active duty. Currently, he is a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy Reserves. Alan has represented over 5,000 clients from over 30 states and has volunteered extensively in the community. His past clientele includes employees of Fortune 100 companies, members of all five military branches, and many college students, parents, teachers, and small business owners.

Alan has contributed toMS-NBC, the Key West Citizen, and several American Bar Association publications. He is the author of the Florida Keys Criminal Law Blog. He is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and Mercer University School of Law, where he earned a Certificate in Advanced Legal Writing, Research, and Drafting. He is licensed by The Florida Bar, the Court of Appeals of the Armed Forces, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Alan is an Eagle Scout, an avid traveler, and a proud husband and father. He has visited nearly every state in our great nation and over ten foreign countries. He is a YMCA youth basketball coach and Babe Ruth youth baseball coach.

 

 

SCOTT LAWRENCE


Scott Lawrence is an Intake Manager and Investigator for Key West Criminal Defense. He has 40 years of experience in the business community in entrepreneurship, client acquisition, and marketing. Having faced multiple personal experiences with family and civil law courts, Scott joined the KWCD team to help good people that are facing the legal system. Scott has over 30 years of military service and is currently a Reservist in the U.S.Navy. He is a Certified Instructor with the Funeral Honors Program, and he has personally served in over 1,000 military funerals.

Scott has been deployed three times to the Middle East, where he received his Federal Corrections Apprenticeship. In addition to his civilian career, during his military service, Scott has worked in logistics, security, training, and Public Affairs. He has received numerous commendation citations and campaign medals. Previously, Scott volunteered his time as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff for over two years. His diverse background and experience with customer service, military, law enforcement, and corrections, make him an invaluable asset to the firm.

 

 

 

SUZETTE GARCIA


Suzette Garcia is the Legal Assistant for Key West Criminal Defense. Much like a nurse supporting a doctor, Suzette is proud to be the trusted right hand of our attorneys –working with them in all aspects of every case. She has been in the legal profession for over 10 years. Suzette started her legal career in the administrative office of the Key West Courthouse, learning the inner-workings of the judges’ offices and Clerk of the Court. Then, she worked as a legal assistant with the Key West Public Defenders Office. She has supported dozens of attorneys and 1,000s of clients across 1,000s of criminal cases.

Suzette was born and raised in Key West. She graduated from Key West High School. She attended The College of the Florida Keys and earned a Paralegal Degree from Tallahassee College. She graduated at the top of her class, earning placement on the President’s List numerous times. Suzette is an active volunteer in the community and her church – currently spending nearly every Friday to Sunday, helping others. She is an avid traveler, having traveled to nearly every state in the country and several foreign countries.
